How to Make Bubblegum Slime the Right Way
If this is your first time making slime, you should follow along with our post on slime troubleshooting. Luckily, liquid laundry starch slime made with school glue is the easiest slime recipe.
If you don’t want to waste a lot of ingredients, try mixing up a small batch first to make sure you won’t have to tweak it before you make the larger version.
We always stock up on gallon sizes of glue and the large laundry starch just in case something goes wrong (but it almost always goes smoothly).

Elmer’s Liquid School Glue, Premium Clear, Washable, 1 Gallon, 1 Count – Great For Making Slime

- Pink food coloring (this one makes the perfect pink)
- White glue
- Liquid laundry starch
DIY ABC Chewed Up Bubblegum Slime Recipe
This recipe came about when we were trying to make our bouncy balls. We thought we had the recipe right, but it turns out, this one wasn’t right for a bouncy ball, but it looked and felt JUST like gum that’s already been chewed.
It’s thicker than most slimes, which makes it so much fun for stretching and playing with without the slime running everywhere on you.
This slime recipe is super easy and is a great place to start if you’re new to making slimes. This version doesn’t have any water, which means there is almost no way you can mess up the ratios.
Mix 1/2 a cup of white glue with several drops of pink food coloring and stir. When the color is fully mixed, add 1/2 a cup of liquid laundry starch to the mixture.
The slime will start to gel immediately. Keep stirring it until you can’t any more, then let the slime sit for about 5 minutes.
After the time is up, work the slime in your hands until it stretches and is no longer sticky. At this point, you can play with the bubblegum slime as much as you like. The texture of this one makes it feel a great deal like chewed gum.
My kids were grossed out and completely amused by this version of slime.

How to Make Slime Out of Gum
As a variation on bubble gum slime, follow these directions to make edible bubblegum slime.
If you want to make an edible version of bubblegum slime, all you need is some gum and some vegetable oil.
Unwrap the gum and place it in a bowl.
Heat the bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, then take it out and stir.
Heat the bowl again for another 30 seconds and stir again.
Keep heating until all the gum is gooey and no longer lumpy.
Throw in a tablespoon or two of oil and mix to prevent the gum slime from being as sticky.
Stretch and play with the slime!
We don’t recommend eating this slime, as the bacteria from kid hands make it quite gross.
